How to Save Grand Duke Ravengard and the Gondians in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Duke Ravengard and Gondians’ quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 takes place in the Iron Throne, an undersea prison. If the setting sounds familiar, it is because it’s a relic from the first game in the series–though it’s not exactly the chair that everyone in Game of Thrones wants to sit in.
In any event, Wyll’s survival and presence in your group, assuming that Duke Ravengard is his father, is the critical component that leads to this job. Here are some of the things we did during our playthrough:
Act 1: In the Druid Grove, we rescued the Tieflings. The alternate path, in which you slaughter them, leads to Wyll’s departure.
Act 2: We found Zariel’s Asset (Mizora) in the Mind Flayer Colony and rescued her. Wyll would be carried to the terrible hells of Avernus if she died.
Act 3: Mizora made an offer (detailed below). We were able to romance her after a short time. Shadowheart was our main squeeze, not Wyll, despite his disdain.
Wyll’s Pact: Proposals From Gortash and Mizora
In Act 3, you’ll be told to attend Lord Gortash’s declaration as Archduke of Baldur’s Gate at Wyrm’s Fortress, which is located between Rivington and the Lower City. Mizora is also present, so speak with her.

- Similarly, you require skills or gear components that increase your mobility range. You have a lot of ground to cover, so speed is essential.
Where to Find the Prisoners: Save Grand Duke in Baldur’s Gate 3
Gondians – You can interact with the levers in front of the cells to free captives, some of which are Gondians who will assist you later in bringing down the Steel Watch mechs. This deed would be extremely beneficial in the next war against Lord Gortash.
Grand Duke Ravengard – Your main mission is to find and release Duke Ravengard, who is imprisoned in one of the cells in the facility’s eastern section. If you accepted Mizora’s proposal earlier, she’ll appear and cast Freedom of Movement and Haste on the duke, allowing him to get to safety swiftly.
Omeluum the Mind Flayer – You should also save Omeluum, the amiable Mind Flayer you may have met in the Underdark’s Myconid Colony. He’s in the southeast, along a flooded passageway. To release Omeluum, you only need to send one character. He has a spell that teleports them both back to the submersible in an instant.
Keep an eye out for the turns that are coming to an end. To access the docking bay, your players must climb the first (lower) ladder. This guarantees their survival. Those who do not arrive in time will perish, but they can be revived if you speak with Withers in your camp.
Aftermath of Save Grand Duke Quest
You will be back in the submersible after completing the Duke Ravengard and Gondians task in Baldur’s Gate 3. Upon exiting, you may be approached by NPCs from the Waveservants faction (who are looking for Redhammer). Feel free to make your own decision.
